MEDIA 2007 - European support programme for the audiovisual industry (2007-2013)

MEDIA is the EU support programme for the European audiovisual industry. The MEDIA 2007 Programme came into operation on January 1st 2007. The programme has a budget of €755 million for a 7-year period, to support pre-production (training and development) and post-production activities (distribution and promotion). The programme aims to reinforce the European audiovisual industry through the training of audiovisual professionals, the development and distribution of production projects (feature films, television drama, documentaries, animation and new media) and the promotion and exhibition of European audiovisual works.

The main action lines of the MEDIA 2007 programme focus on the:

• Training of Professionals
• Development of Production Projects
• Distribution of Films and Television Programmes
• Promotion of European Audiovisual works via support for Film Festivals and Market Access
  
• Exhibition of European Audiovisual works
• i2i Audiovisual – support for Financing, Insurance and Completion Guarantee Costs
• Pilot Projects – the use of new digital technologies
